Amazon and seven other retailers missed a crucial opportunity when they failed to optimize their Black Friday and Cyber Monday emails for mobile. According to LightningBuy’s Mobile Email Scorecard, only 35% of the 60 Largest Internet retailers sent mobile-optimized emails to promote Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals and savings. In today’s world, many people check their emails on their mobile devices, seeing the ‘first impression’ of Internet retailers by email promotions. Carissa Ganelli, CEO/Founder of LightningBuy commented that 80% of non-optimized emails will be deleted without being read, 30% of consumers will be annoyed about the additional step towards the deal and unsubscribe entirely. She surmises that most of the problem is due to a miscommunication between the email department and the marketing department within the Internet retailers themselves.
